Robert C. Bellemare, P.E., C.B.A., COO and Managing Director
With 20 years of experience in the utility business, Mr. Bellemare advises clients on asset valuation, financial modeling, strategic planning, public issues management, and pricing products and solutions. He previously worked for Fortune 500 utilities in a variety of capacities including managing director of energy services, director of market research, wholesale trading and operations, research and development, distribution engineering and power plant engineering. His experience includes working in one of the largest coal plants in the northeast as well as helping to manage some of the largest solar and wind research projects of their time. Mr. Bellemare was co-lead of the unregulated business merger integration team for the AEP-CSW merger. Recently, he completed a study for a utility client in which the economics of new generation, transmission and energy efficiency investments were contrasted and examined. Mr. Bellemare is frequently quoted in the press and makes public presentations on energy issues, with recent forums including CNBC, the World Energy Council, Energy Risk Mutual and industry regulators. He is a registered professional engineer.
Mark Burlingame, CPA, Senior Director
Mr. Burlingame is an international utility expert with 19 years in the utility industry including research and development, business case modeling, financial resource budgeting, business planning, system development, pricing administration, market forecasting and marketing. Prior to entering the utility industry, he was a Senior Management Consultant with Coopers & Lybrand. Mr. Burlingame’s hands-on experience in several jurisdictions and markets includes the United Kingdom, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, California, Washington, Florida, Texas and Oklahoma.
Previous to joining UtiliPoint, Mr. Burlingame consulted for the largest independent Retail Electric Provider in the Texas. He also managed his own business aggregating commercial customers in Texas to form buying pools in the competitive marketplace, giving him a unique perspective on both the utility and customer sides of energy markets. At CSW Energy Services, Inc. Mr. Burlingame led initial investigations and business plan development for sales, pricing, and administrative services for the utility’s deregulated retail electric provider in the Texas retail market. As a consultant to the largest independent Texas retail electric provider, his cost-cutting efforts led to substantial annual savings. He then led a team of company employees and outside consultants in selection and implementation of a financial ERP system. Mr. Burlingame is a CPA.
John Cooper, Lead Consultant, Smart Grid
Author, researcher and project manager, John Cooper has been active in the energy, telecommunications, IT services and government research industries since the mid-1980s. John has led innovative projects in all aspects of the emerging Smart Grid, ranging from utility IP networks, wireless AMI, distributed generation, demand response, energy efficiency, utility-scale energy storage, virtual power plants, and EV charging infrastructure. John is the co-author of the recently published The Advanced Smart Grid: Edge Power Driving Sustainability and the author of The ABCs of Community Broadband, a guide for community leaders, as well as numerous white papers and magazine articles on Smart Grid.
Patrick Reames, Managing Director, The Americas
Mr. Reames has more than 30 years of energy industry experience. He has a deep understanding, developed through hands-on experience and managerial oversight, of upstream and midstream oil and gas operations including exploration, production, gathering, gas plant operations and pipeline operations. Additionally, he has 5 years of energy commodity trading, transportation, and risk management experience with Hess Corp. (formally known as Amerada Hess), a Fortune 100 integrated energy marketing company. Over the last twelve years, he has been focused primarily on information technology serving energy trading, marketing, and risk management. Prior to joining UtiliPoint in 2006, Mr. Reames served as an executive for several technology companies (including TransEenrgy Management, Altra Energy, and TradeWell Systems) providing products and services to energy trading and marketing organizations. In these roles, his focus was on the creation and delivery of innovative, high value service products designed to ensure the successful implementation and on-going use of technology solutions.
Mr. Reames is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and events. He has published numerous articles in industry publications and contributes regularly to the UtiliPoint’s Issue Alert series. Mr. Reames maintains the ETRMCommunity blog and website (http://www.etrmcommunity.com) and is the co-author of the book “Selecting and Implementing Energy Trading, Transaction and Risk Management Software – A Primer”.
Rand Warsaw, Managing Director
Rand Warsaw comes to UtiliPoint with over 30 years of experience in the energy industry. Throughout the span of his career, Rand has spearheaded cutting edge efforts in the measurement of energy efficiency, consumption modeling, data reduction, large data set clean-up, and multi-state power grid simulations.
Prior to UtiliPoint, Rand was Director of Corporate Planning for Equitable Gas Company and held a variety of technical and business positions for Westinghouse Electric Corporation. His research at Westinghouse included supercomputing methods for nuclear core design and single and multi-power plant optimization of nuclear fuel cycles.
Rand is a co-inventor of the fixed bill and weather derivative trading. The landmark patent case underlying these innovations was argued before the U. S. Supreme Court. Rand was a pioneer of weather-based financial derivatives and portfolio analysis. He developed significant methodology relating to energy hedging for fixed unit pricing. In 2009, Rand was named one of the 50 Most Influential People by Managing IP magazine. He is listed as an inventor on a granted patent on energy efficiency reporting and has several other energy data related patents pending.
Mr. Warsaw graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science in Nuclear Engineering and a Master of Science Degree in Engineering. His research at the University of Michigan included supercomputing for nuclear reactor design. He also holds an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh.
Joyce Homiak
For nearly six years, Joyce Homiak has been primarily responsible for fostering and maintaining UtiliPoint Analytics’ existing client relationships as well as establishing new relationships through business development and proposal composition. Joyce also coordinates all aspects of UtiliPoint Analytics’ energy billing programs including multi-channel marketing, stakeholder management, regulatory compliance, third party vendor administration and budget/schedule adherence.
Joyce brings a breadth of experience to the UtiliPoint Analytics team. Prior to joining UtiliPoint Analytics, Joyce held management and client relations positions in the healthcare, advertising and hospitality industries. She is currently a member of the Association of Energy Services Providers (AESP).
Mark Tredway, CommodityPoint Director, Business Development, Europe and Asia
Mr. Tredway joined UtiliPoint in January 2010. He is responsible for business development in Europe and Asia. Mark has over ten years of sales and marketing experience in various industries. Some of these industries include telecommunications, advertising, FMCG and legal.
Mr. Tredway’s international experience includes America, Europe and Africa. In each of his ventures he has risen to the top of his field with decisive decisions, creative ideas, dedication and leadership. Mr. Tredway’s primary rule is customer service and relationship development first, anything after that is a bonus.
