Utility Asset Management Study
in the utility asset management marketplace understand and use asset management
For Immediate Release
Albuquerque, N.M.—April 5, 2006—UtiliPoint® International, Inc. (UtiliPoint) released today a Global Utility Asset Management study across the energy and utilities markets. The purpose of this study is to provide utility executives with an understanding to determine the feasibility of building an asset acculturated business in the midst of both market hyperbole and industry pessimism. In the report, UtiliPoint identifies key trends, business issues and operational criteria applicable to utility-based enterprise asset management and assesses the pros and cons of various asset management technologies, strategies, approaches and business models.
UtiliPoint International surveyed 51 large utilities globally asking them 32 questions about their understanding of asset management and their asset management practices. Within our pool of survey respondents, seventy two percent were utility professionals employed by U.S. companies and twenty eight percent were professionals employed by utilities located around the world.

"Industry accepted definitions of asset management are lacking and the ability for each and every utility to formulate a comprehensive asset management strategy remains elusive," Reports Ethan Cohen, Director of Utility and Energy Technology at UtiliPoint. "We spotted an early trend in the evolution of the asset management opportunity: a focus on transmission and distribution assets and business processes."
