Rick Dove founded Paradigm Shift International in 1991, an enterprise change management and guidance firm that offers interim hands-on executive management when major technological, operational, and/or cultural change or innovation is needed. PSI also provides planning and implementation services in strategy, management development, and information technology infrastructure and innovation. On occasion, PSI will organize and conduct RealSearch workshop sessions for collaborative learning and research into specific subjects of Response Able Enterprise and Change Management. Currently (Nov 03) Rick is involved with two book projects and one proprietary security-technology development project.
In 1992 Rick co-chaired the "21st Century Enterprise Strategy" project at Lehigh University that gave birth to the concept of enterprise Agility, and continues as a leading investigator in the field. In 1994 he established the Agility Forum’s research agenda as its Director of Strategic Analysis.
Rick has developed a unique set of tools and methodologies for analyzing, measuring, and designing change proficient business practices and strategies. These tools are generally applied in facilitated Realsearch workshops to create new management insights, robust change-proficient business practices and strategies, common corporate cultural frameworks, competitive market positions, change management practices, and continuous learning environments. Notably these tools are issue focused—developing a sound understanding of the problem or opportunity, and principle driven—resulting in solutions that are competitively unique and preemptive.
Realsearch is a structured discipline that guides management teams from definition through solution—and results in team ownership, deep understandings, and personal insights. Realsearch develops new management competency while solving problems and securing opportunities.
He is recognized internationally as a leader in change management, enterprise competitiveness, strategy, and both organizational and IT infrastructure architecture. His monthly essays on Agility are published in the USA, China, Korea, and India. He has done business in China, Japan and Europe.
Prior to 1991 Rick was a principal in a variety of corporate start-up and turnaround ventures. He has raised venture funding, led companies, experienced all executive positions, and founded and fixed companies in the computer, office products, systems integration, software, food processing, and food service industries. Since 1985 he has focused on enterprise competitiveness issues and interim-executive change management.
Rick has done graduate work as a Ph.D. candidate in Computer Science at UC Berkeley, and holds a BSEE from Carnegie-Mellon University. His publication list numbers in excess of 150 and is available upon request.
